When rebuilding your Alfa engine, don't forget the components that take
the most beating - the connecting rods. Any serious engine builder always
sends the rods out for magnifluxing, resizing and re-bushing. Sperry Valve
Works offers 3 different rod preparation services to choose from priced

Street Rod Prep.
The Street Prep. is the proper way to blueprint your rods. Includes
magnifluxing , re-sizing and re-bushing. When re-bushing the small end, the
bushing is replaced with our own race proven silicon aluminum bronze
billet. The billet is then precision bored for proper alignment and
re-establishing center to center (known as A-B indexing).

Performance Prep.
The Performance Prep. is designed for autocross, time trials and high
performance street applications. In addition to the Street Prep. treatment
the rods are also polished and shot peened to stress re-relieve the
surface and reduce metal fatigue. The rods are also balanced to within
1 gram of each other, end-for-end. This is necessary for high rpm use
because stock rods are often off as much as 12 grams from the factory.

Competition Prep.
The Competition Rod Prep. is designed for racing applications. All
services in the Performance Prep. are included with the addition of a
more extensive polishing treatment thus reducing fatigue even more.
