Our Stage I Head Preparation is a complete valve job that includes chemical cleaning, replacement of both intake and exhaust valve guides. Our radiused valve seat cutting technique improves airflow even at this entry level stage of head preparation. Valve springs are replaced with our special high performance springs that provide better seating pressure and room for higher lift cams. Cam installation and adjustment of clearances is also included. Every Sperry head comes with a name plate that is to be installed on the cam cover with it's own serial number and which stage of head preparation has been performed. We are not afraid to put our name on our work,"literally".

Stage II head preparation includes all basic valve work in the the stage I Head preparation with the addition of Porting and Polishing the air passages for improved performance.

Stage III Head Preparation includes all of the work in stages I & II with the addition of 4 oversized intake valves and 4 oversized intake seats. In our countless hours of flow bench testing we have proven that a significant increase in airflow occurs when the head is ported correctly by taking advantage of the larger seat and better shaped intake valve. Our oversized valves have a 45 degree seat angle and are custom back-cut for optimum flow. The Stage III Head Preparation works great for hi-performance street applications and time trials.

Stage IV Head Preparation is identical to the Stage III Head Preparation except for the addition of porting the intake manifold. We open up the intake manifold to match the ports in the cylinder head. This is needed when using Weber carburetors and especially when using 45mm or 48mm Webers.
